  3. Of or belonging to man-woman, a member of the
  4. Human race- HomoSapiens. An upright, bipedal,
  5. sentient inhabitant of Earth ranging in 
  6. colour from black, through various shades of
  7. brown and yellow, to white.
  8. Also- showing or having the qualities that
  9. are a distinction of Man.

  13. A Manor or very large house having many 
  14. rooms. The official residence of the Lord
  15. Mayor of London is called the Mansion house.

  17. which has been seperated into flats.

  20. Roadrage
  21. A phenomenon of modern motoring, the word is
  22. used to describe what is, at the least,
  23. grievous bodily harm and, at the worst,
  24. murder. Usually resulting from an imagined
  25. slight by one driver upon another which
  26. causes the supposedly slighted driver to
  27. assault the other. Even the smallest affront
  28. appears to be reason enough to cause this
  29. assault.

  32. Car-Boot Sale
  33. Probably beginning as the "garage sales" of
  34. the U.S. it developed into sales from the
  35. boots of cars (usually of unwanted personal 
  36. possessions) and then from this into 
  37. organised sales from numerous vehicles, the
  38. owners` paying for the use of a site. Now
  39. called `BootSale` it has since grown into
  40. what is really an open-air market and, in
  41. recent times, into a sale, undercover, at
  42. which cars are on longer used.

  45. Plimsoll
  46. A canvas topped, rubber soled, shoe usually 
  47. worn for leisure activities or sports. A 
  48. favourite foot-wear for children on the beach
  49. where they were then called Sandshoes or in
  50. the gym. where they were called Gymshoes. The
  51. modern equivalent being Trainers.

  54. Dominoes
  55. A game played with, usually, 28 rectangular
  56. pieces of wood or ivory (or similar
  57. materials) approximately 2in by 1in, which
  58. are generally coloured black. The upper side
  59. is divided equally into two, the two halves
  60. being either blank or being marked with spots
  61. in combinations from double blank to double
  62. six. Also- the game played with these pieces
  63. in which they are placed with the matching
  64. ends in contact.
  65. The word is also a name for a hooded, loose,
  66. cloak (thought to be of Venetian origin)
  67. which, together with a mask, was worn at
  68. masquerades and was also the name given to
  69. the wearer of this cloak.

  72. Columbian Icefield
  73. With an area of approx.130 sq miles(325km) it
  74. is the largest body of ice in the Rocky
  75. Mountains and, after the Arctic & Antarctic 
  76. Ice Caps,the largest permanent body of ice on
  77. Earth. With a height of 12,284ft(3745m) the
  78. highest point is Mt. Columbia and the average
  79. elevation is about 10,000ft(3000m).
  80. The estimated depth at its greatest is
  81. 1,200ft(360m). Tourists are taken in 
  82. specially designed coaches to an altitude
  83. of 7000ft(2210m), on to the Athabasca Glacier
  84. which, at the height of 8,900ft is an outlet
  85. glacier for the icefield.

  88. Belgium
  89. A small nation of N.Europe, the name derives
  90. from the latin Belgae who occupied this 
  91. territory in Roman times. Originally the 
  92. South Netherlands it became an independent 
  93. kingdom in 1830, its constitution dates from
  94. the following year. Its neutrality was 
  95. guaranteed by the European powers and Russia 
  96. in 1839 but this was violated by the German 
  97. invasion in 1914 and again in 1940.
  98. Capital- Brussels.
  99. Major ports- Antwerp, Ostend and Zeebrugge.
  100. Major towns- Liege, Ghent and Bruges.
  101. Principal exports are iron and steel, 
  102. textiles and petrochemicals. 
  103. A mainly flat country, with some hills and
  104. forest in the S.E. it is inhabited by people
  105. of Flemish and French extraction which 
  106. resulted in two main languages being spoken.
  107. In the north Flemish and in the south Walloon
  108. with some German on the eastern borders.
  109. The currency is the Belgian Franc. 
  110. Became a founder member of the Benelux Union
  111. in 1948, a founder member of the Council of
  112. Europe in 1949, a founder member of European
  113. Coal & Steel Community (ECSC) in 1952 and a
  114. founder member of the European Community(EEC)

  118. Roller Skates
  119. A development of the ice skate, roller skates
  120. have, instead of the blade, a set of small 
  121. wheels (rollers) and are used for skating
  122. on smooth surfaces. A further development are
  123. Roller Blades which, instead of having the
  124. wheels one in each corner, have four slightly
  125. larger wheels in line along the length of 
  126. the skate. The sport of Roller Hockey has
  127. become a very popular pastime, with leagues
  128. forming country-wide.

  132. The name is mainly of American usage the
  133. English version being Cock.
  134. The male of the domestic fowl, differing from
  135. the hen in having a `Comb` or crest on the
  136. crown of its head.
  137. The name is also used for the male of other
  138. birds.

  141. Aconcagua
  142. The highest peak in the Americas, Aconcagua
  143. is an extinct volcano in the Argentinian
  144. Andes with a height of 22,834ft (6960m).
  145. It was first climbed in 1897.
